Great success at Veon’s SIMWOOD Harvesting Field Day
Clonaslee, Co. Laois was the venue for Veon’s Harvesting Field day on 18th November as part of the EU 7th Framework– SIMWOOD project.
Daragh Little, Managing Director Forestry of Veon Ltd gave an introductory talk on the wood energy sector and its growing importance and how the new harvesting techniques being developed by Veon as part of the EU 7th Framework– SIMWOOD project will increase forest owner yields significantly and increase the ever-growing attractiveness of forestry as an asset class for new Irish forestry investors.
Forest owners were able to see this new innovative technique in first thin stands and learn how it could be applied to their own forests. This event was designed to be of interest to forest owners who have not yet thinned their plantations and Veon foresters were on hand to answer any questions which forest owners had.
The Harvesting Field Day was a great success and many of the attendees were interested in the talks given on-site by Joe Codd, Veon’s Director of Sales and Tom O’Dwyer, Veon’s Regional Manager, South East & Midlands.
Timber extraction, forwarding and wood chipping demonstrations were conducted compliments of Worrell Harvesting.
Veon is Ireland’s leading private forestry company and manages over 40,000 acres of high quality Irish forestry on behalf of farm foresters, high net worth individuals, corporates and family wealth offices.
