Veon is looking to recruit an Operations Forester to join our team in the Mid-West Region. As a company offering services to the forestry, ecology, environmental and arboriculture sectors, the successful candidate must demonstrate a knowledge of good forestry practice while also being committed to providing practical solutions for our clients to a high standard. Our company offers a broad range of services in all aspects of forestry all of which will provide you with a breadth of experience in this field.
The primary role will involve managing forestry operations on a day-to-day basis operating to tight deadlines. The role reports to the Regional Manager.
The role will be based in the Mid-West Region and will operate from our regional office in Oranmore, Co. Galway.
The Role:
- Arranging forestry operations such as establishment, roading, harvesting operations, maintenance and other services.
- Preparing licence applications for all licenced forestry activities and schemes.
- Contractor supervision to meet operational requirements and standards.
- Generation of operational budgets and budget control.
- Assist with promotion, marketing and sales activities.
- Detailed focused to ensure adherence of Veon’s, operational and health & safety standards.
- Ensure operations are completed according to project deadlines.
- Compliance with industry legal requirements and guidelines.
Requirements of Operations Forester Role
- Relevant third level qualification in forestry.
- Membership of the Society of Irish Foresters or eligibility for membership is desirable.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Excellent IT and GIS skills.
- Self-starter with ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
- Knowledge of current legal requirements and guidelines as they relate to forestry
