Veon Arboriculturists assessed trees on a private road in Dublin. This fir (Abies sp.) recently fell across this private road. Assessment of its base appears to show healthy roots that have snapped, and some rotting roots on the side where a neighbouring tree failed in the past.
A step back and you can see dozens of trees failed/failing due to the removal of a large number of trees in the past, resulting in exposure issues and root damage for the remaining trees.
Trees that grow up in a group depend on the group for shelter and support. Removing “some” trees can have far-reaching knock-on effects, as seen in this case.
