Badger crossing a river in Co. Donegal.

Veon foresters encountered this badger crossing a river in Co. Donegal. Badgers usually walk or trot, but they can also run when the need arises. They are good at climbing and will readily climb trees to get to ripe fruit. Badger habitats are generally found in areas of deciduous or mixed woodlands which are near farmland or open ground. They have made good use of hedgerow systems in Ireland and have also adapted to life in parks and large gardens.

Badgers will excavate setts within higher level ground as this means that their tunnels will not be flooded by rising groundwater levels in the time of flood.
