Veon is looking to recruit a GIS & Certification Manager who is interested in developing their skillsets across a diverse range of fields in Forestry, Ecology and Arboriculture. Based in our head office in Dublin or one of our regional offices and reporting to the MD-Forestry, the successful candidate will develop and manage the GIS systems of the company integrating the services offered by Veon to enhance efficiencies across the team.
Veon provides services in Forestry, Ecology and Arboriculture and is certified under PEFC for a much of its forestry portfolio. As Certification Officer, the successful candidate will oversee the implementation of the PEFC standard, ensure compliance, manage audits, and liaise with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Asset mapping and maintenance of existing GIS applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS online and QGIS).
- Spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro and presentation of GIS data to the Ecology, Forestry and Arboriculture teams and clients.
- Use GIS to process data and examine datasets, create new datasets, and enhance visual outputs making data easier to interpret.
- Be part of projects making sure data collection is accurate and to standard.
- Dissemination and control of data in the GIS system maintaining the integrity of the system
- Prepare and update management plans to Forest Certification standards and ensure compliance with the PEFC standard amongst the team.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders as part of the PEFC certification, recording engagements and resolving issues as they arise with the Forestry Team.
Requirements:
- Interested in and passionate about the natural environment
- Hold a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or an equivalent qualification that has GIS as a significant component. As the company offers services in forestry and ecology a degree in these areas would be desirable.
- Detailed knowledge of ArcGIS software and associated applications (Fieldmaps and ArcGIS online) and QGIS. A working knowledge of AutoCAD would be beneficial.
