GIS & Certification Manager

Due to continued expansion, Veon is currently recruiting for the role of GIS & Certification Manager. Based in our head office in Dublin and reporting to the MD-Forestry, the successful candidate will have primary responsibility for expanding and maintaining the GIS system, forest management planning, forest certification and providing support to other member of the Forestry, Ecology and Arboriculture team to achieve company goals. Remote working options will also be available to the successful candidate.

Veon provides services in Forestry, Ecology and Arboriculture and is certified under PEFC for much of its forestry portfolio. The successful candidate will develop and manage the GIS systems of the company integrating the services offered by Veon to enhance efficiencies across the team. As Certification Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the implementation of the PEFC standard, ensure compliance, manage audits, and liaise with stakeholders.

Requirements of GIS Manager & Certification Manager

  • Third level qualification in GIS and/or Forestry.
  • Minimum two years relevant experience.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Excellent IT and GIS Skills.
  • Systems orientated with great attention to detail and quality.
  • Self-starter with ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Forest Certification standards (Irish PEFC standard in particular).

Responsibilities of GIS Manager/Certification Officer Role

  • Responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the GIS system updates and mapping.
  • Preparing and updating management plans to Forest Certification standard.
  • Assist in research and consultancy projects where GIS inputs are required.
  • Quality control of data inputted into the system which will include field work and design and implantation of data collection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with the PEFC standard amongst the team.
  • Co-ordinate the addressing of corrective actions in a timely manner which will include training and system changes.
  • Liaise with clients whose forests are certified in relation to auditing, compliance and reporting.
  • Organise and lead main assessment and surveillance audits.
  • Lead stakeholder consultation, recording engagements and resolving issues as they arise with the team.
