Congratulations to Eddie Buckley, Veon Regional Manager, who was presented with his winning award in the Water Day category of the National Heritage Awards which was sponsored the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO).
Veon’s sponsorship of the second year of the “Folly Tales and Treasure Trails” Heritage Week event was deemed to be a great success by all the participants. Eddie explained “this year, for the younger attendees, we had a foraging walk along the bank of the river Brosna where all of the edible plants were identified and sampled. This was followed by a demonstration of kick sampling in the river”.
This natural learning experience was enhanced by the use of the Explorers Kits given to each child which were donated by Veon. Eddie is no stranger to the awards as he was a runner-up at last years’ event. “The need to restore nature, and our relationship with it, has never been more urgent and it is so important to instil our children with an interest in nature and the natural environment” he said.
