Vacancy –Technical/GIS Forester

Veon is Ireland’s leading forestry consultancy specialising in commercial forestry enterprise for all types of woodland owners.  We are also Ireland’s largest purchaser of commercial forestry plantations for investor clients with access to a large database of potential sellers. Based in our head office in Dublin and reporting to the MD-Forestry and the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will have primary responsibility for updating the GIS system, management planning and providing support to other member of the Forestry team to achieve company goals.

Requirements of Technical/GIS Forester Role

  • Third level qualification in GIS and/or Forestry.
  • Excellent IT and GIS Skills.
  • Systems orientated with great attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.

Responsibilities of Technical/GIS Forester Role

  • Responsible for all GIS system updates and mapping.
  • Preparing management plans to Forest Certification standard.
  • Updating the CRM system with maps and attribute data.
  • Liaising with the Forestry team in preparation of forms and associated documents for Forest Service grant applications and felling licences.
  • Assist in research and consultancy projects.
  • Assist in production of Management Plans using data within the GIS system.
  • Responsible for ESB compensation claims.

Vacancy –Operations Forester South West Region

We are currently recruiting an Operations Forester in the South West Region with an opportunity to work with an experienced team and to progress your career in forestry. Reporting to the Regional Manager the Operations Forester will be responsible for controlling all forestry operations in the South West Region.

Key Tasks

  • Arranging establishment, road, and harvesting operations in the region.
  • Contractor supervision.
  • Budget Control.
  • To assist the Regional Manager with sales from time to time.
  • Ensure maintenance of Veon health & safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Third level qualification in forestry.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Excellent IT and GIS Skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Deadline orientated.
