VEON hosts Foresters from Finland in Co. Wicklow

Woodland and Ecology management company VEON hosted a group of Finnish foresters and forest owners from MHY Forest Management Association in County Wicklow at the renowned Coollattin Estate.

VEON previously hosted the event three years ago in 2019 during which time the sylvicultural and ecological restoration of the Coollattin Estate has gained pace and the restoration continues under the vision of new owner Brian Kingham who commented that  “there can be few greater pleasures than the sight of beautiful trees complimenting the unique Wicklow landscape.”

With one of the most impressive collection of oak trees in the country, the Coollattin Estate boasts over 35 oak species and in excess of 30,000 oak trees. In addition to a variety of Eucalyptus regnans from Tasmania and South East Australia, Patagonian cypress has also been planted which adds variety to this truly unique collection.

Joe Codd, Business Development Director of VEON, gave a talk to the Finnish foresters who were eager to learn more about the restoration project and the ecological transformation taking place. “This is one of the greatest of Ireland’s forest treasures in the heart of County Wicklow and it has been a wonderful experience to create this very rare Arboretum.”

VEON continues to host international forestry associations and has welcomed many international foresters to Ireland over the years.
