Veon commenced a clearfell on a commercial forest in County Kilkenny this week which including some running road repairs.
This forest will be replanted shortly to ensure that the land is brought back into carbon-sequestration mode as soon as possible by growing the next timber crop. Timber felled from this site will help supply Irish sawmills with logs which will ultimately be used in the construction of Irish homes and furniture. The Irish forestry industry can supply enough wood to build over 44,000 new Irish homes each year which is hugely climate-positive as 80% of global construction wood comes from conifer/softwood trees and not from native or tropical hardwoods.
