Minster of State Andrew Doyle TD presented Brendan Lynch and Martin McManus with their QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) certificates at Avondale House, Rathdrum, Co Wicklow. This followed their successfully completing a Level 5 award in forestry forwarder operations, making them the first students to successfully complete this newly commenced course run out of Ballyhaise College. The two graduates, Martin McManus and Brendan Lynch, were congratulated by Minister Doyle on their achievement.

The Environmental Protection Agency has stressed the need for action as Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise. According to the agency, Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions increased by 3.5% (2.06 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent) in 2016 – with significant increases observed across all the main sectors including the dairy and energy industries, as well as the transport sector.
